Who is Dialogue Direct? DialogueDirect is a face-to-face fundraising company that works with non-profit organizations like Children International to enable them to continue to provide basic necessities to children and adults in the poorest nations around the globe.
Can I really get paid to talk to people all day? Absolutely! We compensate our face-to-face fundraisers well for their hard work. Our fundraisers are paid an hourly rate along with excellent bonuses. On average our fundraisers make 0-1000 weekly. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees.
Why should I work for DialogueDirect instead of those other guys? We realize there are many companies that do similar work, but DialogueDirect created the face-to-face approach to fundraising in Austria and brought it to the U.S. to advocate for non-profits like Children International, worldwide.
What if I like helping the Environment or advocating for Political Causes? That’s great! Those are noble causes too... But what good would a clean, green planet be without people? How does promoting political issues solve the serious problems facing the global community? It doesn’t. DialogueDirect is unique in that all of its charity partners are non-political and non-religious organizations. This status enables them to reach out to communities where politically and religiously motivated organizations would be unable to work; effectively increasing their impact on global poverty.

- Foodie/WineGeek Server (NW 23rd)
First off, I want to say "Hello" and "I feel for you." I am a lifetime bar/restaurant guy and I've never seen the server/bartender job market this tough. Whether you choose to respond to this posting or not, I wish you good fortune in your job search. I intend to write a long, drawn-out description of what Im looking for so that you dont waste your time if this doesnt sound like your thing. Whether you want to apply for the job described or a less-specific bar/server/cocktail job, you are welcome to apply and I will keep your applications on hand. The link to the online application is at the bottom of this email.
<br>
<br>

<br>
<br>
So
Where can you have a burger and a PBR while shooting pool in one room, or rack of lamb and a 20 year old bottle of Bordeaux in a sultry dining room 50 feet away? If you log onto opentable.com, an online reservation system that most of Portland's top restaurants use, you'll notice something weird standing out on their "Top 10 Lists." Ranked #2 under "Best Food" (down from #1 last month), "Best Overall," "Notable Wine Lists" and a bunch of other categories is a billiards club, a pool room. That's us. We're called Uptown Billiards Club, and although we've been around 15 years, we're somewhat of a well-kept secret. You can snoop around at www.uptownbilliards.com . We just did a big remodel, so some of the pictures are dated, but you'll get the idea.
<br>
<br>
One of our servers just moved to Hawaii and someone else gave notice last week to concentrate on school. This is opening up a position on a small team whose newest member has been around a year and some have been around more than 5. We're fun, we're responsible; we're "casually professional" or "professionally casual" or something like that.
<br>
<br>
I would like to hire one person who is available to work 2-4 nights per week, primarily in our dining room and who has a proven passion for food and wine. There are two sides to our happy hour, at the bar there is ½-price bar food, but in the dining room there is a 5-course menu built around some locally-grown organic theme ingredient. I need the type of server who cares about every element of that menu and the five wines that are paired to the courses.
<br>
<br>
Id like to hire someone EXPERIENCED at selling A TON of wine, but who wants to gain some experience helping me develop our wine program and help maintain the wine infrastructure of the Club. We need to make sure that every new wine gets on lists, someone to research descriptions on wines for our "list database," create educational one-sheets for the other staff, etc.
<br>
<br>
In trade for putting in a couple hours of this sidework each week during any downtimes on shift, I can help you continue your wine education with access to the wine world of Portland. I will invite you to tastings, seminars, lunches and all the fun and educational stuff that wine buyers get to enjoy. On Monday of last week alone, I "had to" go to an Oregon Pinot Noir tasting, a "Best of California" tasting and (the geekiest thing Ive ever done) a seminar on the commonalities of terroir attributable to mountain vineyards. Youre invited to join me.
<br>
<br>
So, whether you want to be a wine geek or a cocktailer/bartender, you are welcome to fill out our application. I will not consider any resume that doesnt accompany an online application. I honestly would choose not to even receive your resume as the most pertinent information will be covered in the application. Our application is posted here: www.uptownbilliards.com/jobs.htm .

Good luck to all of you.
